Gimp was the name of Tomas' first band, a punk-rock trio with himself, Chris Greer and Jay Scharenguivel. They released one album, Smiles for Macavity, in 1996, which contained the original version of "Supernothing" with Tomas' brother Achilles playing violin. After a while Tomas got bored with punk-rock and so Gimp morphed into Catch 22.
