SitB delayed a week in the UK

Due to some problem with customs the release of Somewhere in the Between has been delayed by one week in the UK.

Streetlight’s first music video online; UK tour in 2008

Streetlight Manifesto’s very first music video has been posted on YouTube. The song, if you’re wondering, is “We Will Fall Together” off of the upcoming Somewhere in the Between.

Additionally, Streetlight will be touring England and Scotland with Reel Big Fish and Sonic Boom Six in February.

Two new SitB samples and other news

There’s a new update on the Streetlight site today:

  • Get your tickets for the upcoming shows before they sell-out.
  • SitB will be available at the New Jersey show.

And…

the first video off of SITB will be making it’s debut soon, thanks for asking. We will be showing it here first, within the next few weeks. And of course it’s not just us in a room, lip syncing to our own music (you know us better than that, don’t you?).

And…

Mmmm, what else… oh yeah. Here and here.

Somewhere in the Between Cover Art, Release Date and Track Listing

Somewhere in the Between cover art Victory just updated their releases page with the release date and cover art of Somewhere in the Between. Unfortunately it isn’t going to be out until 13th November, so apparently not in time for the upcoming North American tour.

Update: As someone on the forum just pointed out the tracklist is also up:

  2. Down, Down, Down to Mephisto’s Cafe
  3. Would You Be Impressed?
  4. One Foot on the Gas, One Foot in the Grave
  5. Watch it Crash
  6. Somewhere in the Between
  7. Forty Days
  8. The Blonde Lead the Blind
  9. The Receiving End of it All
  10. What a Wicked Gang Are We

SitB samples posted, US tour starts 7th November

Streetlight have just updated their site with the first 3 samples from Somewhere in the Between:

  1. number one
  2. number two
  3. number three

Unfortunately they have also revealed that they can’t announce the release date yet due to unforeseen circumstances, but hope to be able to post it by next week. However they do reveal that their headlining US tour starts 7th November and that Surely it would make no sense to play songs that no one has ever heard….

They then go on to thank everyone who came out to the last tour, and hint at the just revealed Australian tour with RBF & LTJ, before ending with:

Stay tuned also for details and show announcments for our winter headliner, as well as more song snippets, a proper and definitive release date, a whole new site, and a few surprises…

Tomas to release The Stitch Up’s debut album

In an interview with Punknews.org Dan Potthast has announced that the debut album by his new band, The Stitch Up, will be released by Tomas Kalnoky on a “new label” that is presumably Pentimento Music. This would seem to be confirmed by The Stitch Up’s Myspace. He also announced that The Stitch Up and Streetlight Manifesto are to tour together this winter, and that Streetlight’s album will be out by then.

European tour cancelled; Tomas undergoing surgery

It was reported a few days ago that Streetlight’s upcoming European tour has been cancelled so Tomas can undergo surgery. It is being rescheduled for spring 2008.

Streetlight Tour Dates

First off I’d like to apologise for the lack of updates. I was without an Internet connection for all of April and about half of May so was not around when the tour dates were announced and have been busy with other things since getting it back. However I have now finally updated the shows page, where you can find all of the currently announced US summer dates as well as the first two European shows.

BOTAR Update

As some of you know the BOTAR site updated a little while ago but didn’t really add anything apart from a link to the Pentimento Music Company. However it updated again yesterday and this time actually has a whole bunch of new info.

So here’s an update for all you patient BOTAR peoples:

* BOTAR (and SM) has added some folk behind the scenes to help out with web updates and in general start kicking the “talent” around to actually get things done in some sort of timely manner.

* BOTAR is about to start recording its first full length. The plan is to release it around the same time or slightly after Streetlight gets its record done. But we’re dealing with you-know-who here so expect it sometime before the end of our current decade.

* BOTAR is recruiting musicians for recording (and possible touring in the near to distant future) on the West Coast. Yes, BOTAR is starting a West Coast Division. Now between the two groups maybe they’ll put out more than an EP every 5 years. If you or someone you know
A) play any of the following: Upright Bass, Drums, Violin, Viola, Cello, Trumpet, Trombone, Any Sax, Clarinet, Oboe, Piano, Mandolin, Percussion (Especially Ethnic) or anything you think might contribute and compliment the BOTAR sound
B) Are very, very skilled at your instrument
C) Are 18 years old or older
D) Live in Los Angeles County or one of the neighboring counties
D) Want to be a rich, famous rock and roll star
Please contact me at jarekotar@gmail.com with the subject “BOTAR West Coast”
Links to video/audio of you playing or a description of your experience will really help out, so send what you have.

* BOTAR is now affiliated with the Pentimento Music Company, a tiny new label that will be releasing and distributing their records. Their site will be up shortly (and yes, from now on when we say “soon” we actually mean it)

* Please don’t email me about the band, or Streetlight or to request anything from them, I barely know more than you guys do. I’m just here to make sure things move along. And from the emails I’ve read from you all, it’s about damn time.

Streetlight Update

The Streetlight site has updated with news of a 2 month North American tour in the summer with Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake. Even more exciting is that the new record will most definately be finished by then and they will be playing new material as well as old material. Finally!. Also good news for us Europeans as sometime after the summer tour Streetlight will return here for a longer tour than the last 2.

There is also a call for help with the new website in the update, with the request that anyone very proficient with CSS, dhtml, clean code, some flash and blog customizing, please contact jarekotar@gmail.com with some samples of your work. In return, we will bury you in merch, cds, free tickets and whatever else we can think of.

RISC to release Dan Potthast album after all?

After Ska is Dead.com announced and then retracted that Dan Potthast’s next solo album would be released on the RISC Group it would appear there has been some confirmation as the RISC store has added several new categories in the past 24 hours, one of which is called Dan Potthast. The category is currently empty but presumably you will be able to purchase the album and maybe other merchandise from there in the future.

Album not out, Streetlight update site

As you may have guessed Streetlight’s new album didn’t come out today. An AbsolutePunk.net news post from last November that I missed said it had been delayed until February but judging by Streetlight’s latest site update I doubt that too.

They did however offer an interesting postscript:

as we approach the end of mixing, we will be posting snippets of songs here, as well as providing further information about the album and the true identity of bunny’s “kidnappers”.

So that should hopefully provide something intesting, I wonder if they’ll do anything strange to them like their first teaser. And who or what is bunny?

RISC Store open again

No major news but now that Streetlight have finished touring the RISC Store is back open with a bunch of new merchandise.

Next album to be released 2007/01/23… allegedly

Five Kids Down on skachilles has posted scans of the latest Alternative Press showing a release date of 2007/01/23 for Streetlight’s next album. There is also a section of the “most anticipated” page with some quotes from Tomas:

Although its release has already been postponed multiple times, Streelight Manifesto singer/guitarist Tomas Kalnoky says the ska outfit’s still-untitled record will be well worth the wait. We try not to work on any deadlines. We’re Just trying to make it as good as possible, [and] letting it grow more organically. Kalnoky says this time out, the ska mainstays are finding inspiration in bands like System Of A Down and the Mars Volta. It’s a bit darker than the last one. It’s definitely a headphone record.

Update: Fixed the 2006/7 typos. Sorry about that.

Definitely last Streetlight tour until new record is out

Streetlight have updated their site with their first news post in a long while to announce a show at The Starland Ballroom on 2006/12/03, separate from their current tour with Reel Big Fish. More interesting though is this quote:

also, this will be our last (and first in a long while) headlining show for some time, as we are offically [sic] and definately [sic] not playing any more shows or doing any more tours until the new record is complete. as for that, we are a good chunk into the recording process and we’re all very very very psyched for this one to be released.

RISC Group to release Dan Potthast album?

Dan Potthast, the MU330 frontman, is recording his third solo album and according to Ska is Dead.com [It] will be all ska based and recorded by Tomas Kalnoky( Streetlight Manifesto). Tomas is also planning on releasing it on his new label. which presumably refers to the RISC Group.

Update: It appears Ska is Dead.com have pulled the interesting part of the story (though they have failed to state why or even acknowledge that they have done so) so presumably this info is false.
